Seashells by the Sea has a private hot tub with gowns and slippers provided and is set just 850 yards from the seafront and promenade. Ideally located, Seashells by the Sea and Seashore Hideaway (UK10082) are just two doors away from eachother, perfect if there are two families or four couples. The property is situated to the rear of a residential area and backs onto fields. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has a lovely sweeping bay with an uncrowded beach even in the height of summer. The village was once a thriving fishing village but only a few fishing cobbles set off early in the morning now. Set in the bay is The Couple, a sculpture designed by Sean Henry. At the end of the bay is the Maritime Centre housing the old lifeboat, which has a small gift area and cafe, and often has art exhibitions.
The fabulous 18-hole cliff top golf course has lovely sea views and a bar with a pretty area for snacks. By prior arrangement, the owner can arrange a 50% discount for you on a round of golf.
The promenade stretches a mile and midway is a popular ice cream parlour. Nearby Woodhorn Museum often has children’s activities and exhibitions and houses the county archives should you wish to do a genealogy hunt. Only a few miles away is Druridge Bay and Cresswell with miles of empty beaches and the start of the Heritage Coastline. A little further takes you all the way up to Bamburgh and Holy Island, which is steeped in history. Of course Northumberland doesn’t just have a beautiful coastline, it also has a highly acclaimed international Dark Sky Park and a trip over to Kielder Water is certainly worth a visit taking in the rugged landscape.
Don’t forget to visit Hadrians Wall over to the west, steeped in history, where some of the museums show the struggles in years gone by. The pretty market town of Morpeth, 8 miles, has plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat. When you return from your day exploring, sit and relax in the lovely private hot tub, which can be accessed from the outhouse and is covered by a wooden gazebo for full privacy. Beach 800 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 800 yards.
Seashells by the Sea can be booked together with Seashore Hideaway (UK10028) to accommodate upto 8 guests.
Can't make your mind up - single storey or holiday cottage near the beach? North East England is a fabulous part of UK. You will find pet friendly holidays in Culture and things to do in Newcastle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens or Northumberland - some have golf courses close by.
