Extra Amenities

Only a few steps down to the promenade this end-terrace holiday home is an ideal base from which to explore the magnificent heritage of the Northumberland coast. The small fishing village of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has the only east coast off shore statue ’Ebb and Flo’ set in the pretty bay. A family ice cream shop serving award-winning ice creams and coffee is in the centre of the promenade, and the Maritime Centre at the end of the bay houses the old lifeboat and has regular exhibitions. Nearby Woodhorn Museum has regular events and holds genealogy records. The pretty, historic town of Morpeth is only 8 miles with some bespoke shops, ample tea rooms, pubs and a riverside walk.

The thriving fishing port of Amble is only 13 miles north with a popular Sunday market and small fish restaurants.
From Amble, follow the Heritage Coast towards Craster, Beadnell and Bamburgh, soaking in the golden beaches and unspoilt miles of coastline and castles. Regular buses can be taken from Newbiggin-by-the-Sea to the vibrant city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where you can explore the quayside and the historic streets and shops as well as the Theatre Royal, where a wide variety of productions are staged.

A train to Edinburgh or York can be taken from nearby Morpeth and makes a fabulous day trip. The Northumberland National Park and Kielder Water and Forest Park make a lovely day trip to explore the countryside, perhaps stopping off at Otterburn Mill Shop to pick up a bargain. Hadrian’s Wall is easily accessed via the A69 where you can visit Corbridge and Hexham. The Carriage House is ideally located for exploring the whole of this unspoilt and friendly county.
