Ferncliffe Cottage is set on a quiet country lane with spectacular views from the living room and master bedroom, as well as the terrace and front patio. Semi-detached and single storey, it lies in an elevated location maximising the stunning scenery of the Coquet Valley and the Simonside Hills. The thoughtful owner has ensured a real ‘home from home’ in the contemporary style of the cottage, which has a cosy wood burner in the kitchen/dining area. The living area can be completely open, or the living room can be separated off with the custom-built, sliding door.
The rear garden is tiered and offers a relaxing area where you can catch the sun, while the front enclosed patio area takes advantage of the outstanding views. Fernciffe Cottage is on the edge of the small village of Thropton and a 700-yard downhill walk leads to the local pub. Only 2 miles further is the historic market town of Rothbury, with its pretty riverside inns and tea rooms.
The National Trust property, Cragside House, in Rothbury makes for a good day out, and its gardens are a delight. Alnwick Castle is only 14 miles away, where you can explore the enchanting gardens and the magnificent castle. Otterburn is easily reached, and you can drive on to Kielder Water and explore the National Park. After a busy day touring, Ferncliffe Cottage makes a welcome retreat to come back to. Beach 17 miles.
