Hyem is the northern term for ’home’ and this property is exactly that. It is a welcoming holiday ‘home from home’ in the bustling fishing town of Amble, just 2 minutes’ stroll from the harbour and beach, and offers an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture. Its open plan living space has lots of room in which to relax, and there is a cosy wood burner in the living room, two large comfortable sofas to curl up on and Smart TV and large dining table perfect to gather around for food or games. The kitchen and utility room, refurbished in 2020, include oak worktops, modern appliances and a lovely coffee maker to enjoy a morning espresso. The separate utility area, with washing machine, also offers space for pets and outdoor equipment. With three good sized fully furnished bedrooms, the accommodation is perfect for a small group, and a travel cot, highchair and two portable stairgates make the property friendly for small children.
Outside you’ll find an enclosed courtyard with table and chairs to enjoy the last of the summer sun and some al fresco dining.
Hyem makes an excellent choice for those seeking a coastal retreat, giving easy access to explore the 20 miles of magnificent stretch of Heritage coastline. This region is proud to have been designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Amble is a bustling fishing town and working port, situated just 1-mile south of Warkworth village, on the Coastal Route through Northumberland.
With a good range of small, mostly independent shops, including a great little artisan bakery, excellent butchers, Italian restaurant, award-winning seafood restaurants and one of the best traditional fish and chip shops in the North East on the quayside, it’s a fascinating little fishing port.
There’s a local Sunday market held every week on the old quayside, which is lovely to wander around, as well as a little ‘Harbour Village’ with tiny boutique-style independent shops operating out of pods resembling old fishermen’s huts. The views from the quayside are spectacular, of the estuary, impressive Warkworth Castle, Coquet Island and of course the beautiful sea, and the walk along the harbour front to the interesting marina is just lovely, follow it with lunch or dinner in one of the super little eateries on the quayside. There is golf, fishing and water sports nearby. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
Need a hand deciding - isolated country cottage or beach front holiday house? North East England is very hospitable. Couples will find cottages that accept dogs in The Farne Islands and Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Northumberland or Islands off Northumberland Coast - some have half term deals.
