West House is a beautiful stone-built house, built in 1836 with fabulous attention to detail throughout. Relax in the bubbling hot tub in the private enclosed area to the rear after exploring this stunning area of Northumberland.
With a cosy wood burner, set in a traditional inglenook fireplace to cosy-up in front of on those cooler evenings, West House is the perfect retreat for couples, friends, or families to enjoy a well-deserved holiday in this friendly small town. The owners have carefully retained character and charm throughout paying attention to the exposed stone, high coved ceilings, and beautiful internal furnishings throughout.
Step out your front door and stroll to the shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants in this small market town set on the edge of the National Park.
It is said that "Postman Pats’s Greendale" is based on Wooler, being the gateway to the Cheviots.
West House is only 15 miles from Berwick on Tweed, with a beautiful beach and plenty of shops and history. Northumberland is such a diverse and friendly county with the beautiful Heritage Coast only 15 miles to Bamburgh, with a cliff top castle from where you can follow the trail and take in the history, a lovely day trip. Holy Island Causeway is only 14 miles where the Lindisfarne Gospels were kept (check thetides).
The location really is ideal for exploring in all directions of Northumberland and Scotland’s Border counties.
Wooler itself has that country feeling while still having a market town buzz, combining home comforts with countryside. You can be hiking the Cheviot Hills in the morning and having a local beer in one of the nearby pubs on an evening. St Cuthbert’s Way walk passes via Wooler, a 62-mile route following the ancient pilgrimage route, followed by St Cuthbert and many other monks between Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in north Northumberland.
