Extra Amenities

Branthwaite Cottage neighbours a working sheep farm, in the quiet hamlet of the same name, rarely disturbed except for the odd car or tractor passing by. This Grade II listed property has the charm and attraction of a typical Lakeland house, with traditional slate roof and sash windows. As you enter through the wood panelled front door, you will find an open plan kitchen with dining area, which boasts lovely views towards open rural farmland, and has everything you need to enjoy a self-catering holiday. The living room provides comfy seating and a cosy wood burner for those cooler evenings, adding warmth and luxury to the room. There is also a utility room and separate storage room, ideal for bike storage, which is adjacent to the back door for ease of access.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms and a convenient room with space for cases. The shower room is the place to wake up revived and refreshed, just watch your head as you go through the door! Outside there is a pretty paved area with outdoor furniture for that morning coffee. Planted floral borders add to the attractive cottage garden.

For walkers, leave the car and head straight to the quieter Caldbeck Fells, with many walks in this tranquil countryside, known as John Peel country, these quiet lanes are also ideal for cyclists.

Head over to nearby Caldbeck, a traditional fell village with tea rooms, country pub serving fine ales and home cooked food, and many craft and workshops to browse. This part of the Lake District National Park is home to popular visitor attractions including the market town of Keswick, a bustling haven to the visitor, Bassenthwaite, a 4-mile long lake with the mighty Skiddaw Massif as its backdrop, or to the north Carlisle, with pedestrianised shopping, Tullie House for rainy days and the castle for a trip back in time.
