Quince Cottage is a charming terraced cottage offering accommodation over 3 floors, ideal for a great relaxing holiday with family or friends. The ground floor offers a relaxing lounge and dining area, a well-equipped kitchen and rear courtyard with sitting area. The first floor has a family shower room, dressing room and double bedroom with the second floor offering a twin room. It is centrally located in the picturesque fishing village of Flookburgh, situated on the shores of Morecambe Bay, which offers a good range of shops, including a post office, pharmacy, bakery, public house, general store and fish and chip shop. Cark & Cartmel Railway Station is only a 10 minute walk from the cottage where you can travel by train on the Furness line, which runs between Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster.
The village also benefits from a regular bus service between Grange-over-Sands and Kendal.
Located in Flookburgh, you have the best of both worlds, with easy access to Humphrey Head, a popular tourist spot for beach lovers (2 miles), and right on the border of the Lake District National Park. There are walks, cycling routes, local pubs, great shopping, and stunning scenery. Cark has its own train station and good connections to the mainline. It is also a short drive from the popular Victorian town of Grange-over-Sands and is just a few miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere, providing easy access to the higher fells.
The priory village of Cartmel is only 2 miles down the road, famous for its horse racing weekends, hosted four times a year, and also for its sticky toffee pudding, this quirky village is definitely worth a visit. Cartmel also offers a wine bar, independent shops, local pubs and two Michelin star restaurants for you to enjoy, so make sure you book!
If you want to discover more of the Lake District then just a 10-minute drive down the road you are in Newby Bridge, home to the Lakes Aquarium, Windermere Lake Cruises and the Haverthwaite steam train. South Lakes is known as the ’Gateway into the Lakes’, so you can easily access many popular towns around Cumbria including Ulverston, Ambleside, Coniston, and Bowness-on-Windermer
