Located in Flookburgh, you have the best of both worlds, with easy access to Humphrey Head, a popular tourist spot for beach lovers (2 miles), and right on the border of the Lake District National Park.
There are walks, cycling routes, local pubs, great shopping, and stunning scenery. Cark has its own train station and good connections to the mainline. It is also a short drive from the popular Victorian town of Grange-over-Sands and is just a few miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere, providing easy access to the higher fells. The priory village of Cartmel is only 2 miles down the road, famous for its horse racing weekends, hosted four times a year, and also for its sticky toffee pudding, this quirky village is definitely worth a visit.
Cartmel also offers a wine bar, independent shops, local pubs and two Michelin star restaurants for you to enjoy, so make sure you book!
If you want to discover more of the Lake District then just a 10-minute drive down the road you are in Newby Bridge, home to the Lakes Aquarium, Windermere Lake Cruises and the Haverthwaite steam train. South Lakes is known as the ’Gateway into the Lakes’, so you can easily access many popular towns around Cumbria including Ulverston, Ambleside, Coniston, and Bowness-on-Windermere.
