Alan’s Cottage is located just a couple of minutes’ walk from Cockermouth’s town ventre and is ideally situated to explore the Western Lakes and coast, the northern Lake District Fells, Cockermouth, Bassenthwaite and Keswick.
This property is surrounded on three sides by the Lake District National Park and has contemporary feel. Thanks to the enclosed garden and private allocated parking, it means you can enjoy a stress-free stay in a town centre location. The ground floor features a spacious living room with a 40" Smart TV, a contemporary gas fire and benefits from plenty of light from the large windows. The open plan kitchen/dining room is also modern and has patio doors leading to a small enclosed patio garden which faces east. Upstairs you’ll find two well-appointed bedrooms, the first a double room and the second with twin beds.
The bathroom features a large shower cubicle and heated towel rail.
Alan’s Cottage is perfect for couples and adults looking for an excellent base, close to the action. Just a two minute walk and you reach the main street in Cockermouth. Regular visitors will know that Cockermouth has an abundance of independent bars, pubs, shops, restaurants, coffee shops and a number of excellent attractions, including Jenning’s Brewery offering tasting and tours, Wordsworth House and gardens, and a local leisure pool if you fancy a swim. If you love the Lakes you’re in easy reach of Bassenthwaite Lake with stunning scenery and an abundance of wildlife, including red squirrels, buzzards and osprey.
Drive south and you’ll reach Loweswater which connects to Crummock Water and Buttermere, arguably one of the most picturesque areas of Cumbria for breath-taking scenery. Whether you’re looking for rugged adventure or just a peaceful walk taking in the flora and fauna, you have a beautiful area to explore.
If you’re looking for family fun, a great day out can be had at The Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite, 5½ miles, with over 100 species of animals. You could try Go Ape, a tree top adventure at Whinlatter Forest, 7¾ miles, also home to some brilliant cycling trails.
