It boasts a prime location in the desirable village of Low Lorton and it’s only 100 metres from the village pub which serves a selection of real ales, great pub food and a relaxing atmosphere. The cottage has a spacious living room with cosy wood burner, ideal for relaxing nights in front of a glowing fire.
Lorton is a quiet village and you’re in a prime location for fell walking, climbing, stunning scenery and easy access to nearby tourist hotspots and popular towns such as Keswick and Cockermouth. The adjoining village of High Lorton has a small shop and a church.
You can reach the town of Cockermouth in just 12 minutes by car with an abundance of bars, shops, restaurants, and independent retailers. There are plenty of coffee shops and cafés as well as the Kirkgate Arts Centre in Cockermouth which hosts regular performances.
The tourist magnet of Keswick is only a 7-mile drive over the Whinlatter Forest pass. Keswick’s vibrant centre is popular with outdoor lovers, and you can pick up all your walking gear from many specialist retailers. You also have Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil.
Puzzling Place, great for the kids, with mind boggling illusions and attractions. If you like culture, then The Theatre by The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater is worth a visit for an evening performance.
Whinlatter forest is perfect for all ages with cycling trails through the forest, Go-Ape climbing adventure and a children’s play area. There are several walks from the village but take a short drive or bus journey and you can access many of the magnificent fells in this stunning part of the English Lake District.
