The Carters Cottage is a gem; a terraced property, beautifully presented and full of character. Guests will appreciate the attention to detail and good standard of facilities available, a clear demonstration of the effort the owners have put into the careful renovation and on-going care of this delightful cottage.
With a nod to the history of the cottage and its previous owner, The Carters Cottage dates back to around 1850. Originally a home for a family of 12, it is now extremely comfortable for 6! Its residents were typical of local families, and made their living transporting gunpowder from the ‘Old Sedgwick’ gunpowder works by the River Kent.
With Sedgwick House built by the owners and sitting opposite the cottage, the history of the village and area is evident in its surroundings.
In an ideal spot for touring the area you are just a short drive from Bowness and Windermere. South Lakeland and the Kent Estuary offer the contrast of landscape from Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland hills.
Walkers will enjoy the picturesque surrounding areas, with walks along the canal – northbound to the historic market town of Kendal or south through the Hincaster Tunnel to Crooklands.
The Carters Cottage is well placed to allow for easy pottering about the area. Local villages offer friendly pubs, cafés, garden centres and visitor attractions. After a long day’s exploring, return to the comfort of the cottage and the cosy multi-fuel burner
