Bandrake barn dates back to 1824 and is a converted stone-built barn that was once used to house the coach and horses for the owners of Bandrake house. The barn has been converted to a good standard whilst retaining some of its original features, including exposed oak beams which gives it the character it deserves. It is only 20 minutes by car to Coniston Water and Grizedale Forest where you can run, cycle off road and visit Go Ape if you are feeling adventurous.
Bowness and Windermere are only a 20-minute drive away.
Bandrake Barn is nestled in the Parish of Colton next to the village of Oxen Park which has an excellent pub and restaurant that has been refurbished, and a cinema just a 5-minute walk away. You can travel up the coast road past Silecroft which offers a great open beach and on to Ravenglass with the La’al Ratty (Little Railway) which goes for 7 miles up to the village of Boot.
During the evening you can sit back and relax in the beautiful well-maintained garden and light the barbecue. Bandrake Barn is in a perfect location for exploring the Lake District fells, mountains, lakes and forests. Cartmel and its racecourse is a 20-minute drive. Beach 9 miles. Shop 3 miles and pub serving food 800 yards.
