The market towns of Leek, Macclesfield and Congleton, with their shops and restaurants, are within easy reach, as is Buxton with its beautiful opera house and summer festivals. Astronomy lovers shouldn’t miss Jodrell Bank with its famous telescope.

This part of the country is rich in historic houses too – including the lovely half-timbered halls at Gawsworth and Little Moreton and the National Trust properties of Styal Mill and Biddulph Grange.
