Willow Barn Cottage (ref UKC2811) and Barn Owl Cottage (ref UKC2812) are quaint, converted cottages which have been tastefully upgraded and offer welcoming accommodation of a very good standard. Outside is a shared gravelled seating area, a suitable place to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening overlooking open farmland. The Old Forge (ref W40295) is a sympathetically converted, detached 200-year old cottage retaining many character features, and has an enclosed garden. All properties have barn owls for neighbours - they nest in the adjoining barn!
The dog friendly properties are tucked away in a peaceful lane adjacent to the owner’s home on the edge of the picturesque village of Beckermet.
They are situated close to Whitehaven with its historic harbour, marina and shops, which has twice been named as a Brita resort, and St Bees with its expanse of sandy beaches.
This is an ideal location from which to explore the wonderful Western Fells of the Lake District National Park and the Cumbrian coastline.
Ennerdale Water and Wastwater, once voted ’Britain’s Best View’ and nearby Scafell Pike, are within easy driving distance. For a superb day out, Muncaster Castle also has beautiful gardens and an internationally renowned Owl Sanctuary, not to mention the amazing views from its elevated position. Day permits for trout fishing are available within half a mile. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 3¾ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
