Yapton lies south west of Arundel between the South Downs and the sea. The 13th century parish church of St Mary the Virgin is located close to The Little House and it houses a 12th century font. The beaches at Climping and Bognor Regis are within minutes of the property. Climping is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest. At its eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun, is the West Beach. It is well worth a visit and the fish and chips do come highly recommended!

The National Trust village of Slindon is just five miles from the cottage and is the largest traditional estate on the South Downs.

With over 25 miles of public rights of way there are plenty of walks or cycle paths to suit all ages and abilities. From hazel-shaded lanes and neatly cultivated fields to woodland and hedgerows, every season brings a new delight to the walks. There are countless places and excuses to stop and stare including views of the Isle of Wight Chichester Cathedral and Halnaker Windmill.

Arundel, which is less than five miles from the cottage, is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tea rooms. It’s a great place to wander and just enjoy the streets lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings. Arundel Castle is the seat of the Duke of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years.

It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. The 11th Century Keep has amazing views over Arundel the South Downs and towards the Sussex coast. There are 131 steps to climb to the top and it’s well worth the effort.

Chichester, the cathedral city of Sussex, is a twenty-minute drive away and is a great destination for a day trip as the city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls making it compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. The Little House is in prime position to enjoy the prestigious motorsport events at Goodwood, or the horseracing at Fontwell Park Races, which is a unique figure of eight track and a jewel for West Sussex.
