Adjacent is the utility room, where the main access to the property is, and also a handy downstairs toilet. Bishops Tawton is a small village with its own very popular thatched pub within walking distance. It is less than 2 miles from Barnstaple town centre, North Devon’s regional capital and ancient river-port town at the lowest crossing point of the River Taw flowing into the Bristol Channel. At the lovely waterside village of Instow, 7 miles to the west, you can enjoy the quiet inlet with sand dunes and a sandy beach along with a selection of pubs, restaurants and an excellent delicatessen. Across the water is Appledore with its traditional fisherman’s cottages and quaint village streets to simply wander around and take in the surroundings.
The historic port town of Bideford is just a further 2 miles away and offers a taste of traditional North Devon life with its weekly pannier market, much like Barnstaple’s. Some of the best beaches in the UK like Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and Croyde are easily reached by car from the property and are popular with surfers, windsurfers and beach lovers alike. There are plentyof local attractions and amenities nearby including a leisure centre with swimming pool, purpose-built tennis centre, bowling alley, trampoline centre and an array of adventure and activity places to enjoy.
The region offers family attractions such as the Big Sheep and Milky Way theme parks, Dartington Crystal Factory, Tapeley Park, Rock Park and the Tarka Trail, which is popular with walkers, runners and cyclists and follows a disused railway line spanning from Barnstaple all the way to the fringes of Dartmoor National Park. Other stunning areas to consider visiting while in North Devon are Lynton & Lynmouth, Valley of the Rocks and Exmoor National Park to name just a few. And then there’s the South West Coast Path which offers in North Devon alone, 90 miles of walks with amazing and dramatic coastal views. Whether you’re seeking the perfect base to explore all that North Devon has to offer or the perfect getaway location to relax and unwind in complete comfort while making the most of the impressive views, this is the perfect choice for a family or small group of friend
