The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful and exciting south coast of Cornwall and all it has to offer, from beautiful beaches and fishing villages to the famous Eden Project. There are some good fishing opportunities to be had nearby (licence required). Adjacent to the owners’ home, this pretty, semi-detached cottage is situated in the old market town of St Austell and provides the ideal holiday retreat to relax. The cottage is situated down a quiet lane, yet just minutes from the beach at Porthpean, which has a stunning cliff backdrop. Other beaches nearby include Duporth, Crinnis Beach at Carlyon Bay and Pentewan. The world famous Eden Project is just over 3 miles away, with its magnificent biomes, and is certainly a mind-blowing attraction for visitors.

It also hosts concerts and themed events throughout the year to keep children and adults fascinated. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are well worth a visit. Set in 200 acres of garden history that were once lost under brambles, they have been restored to their former glory. You can explore the gardens and the estate in your own time and really appreciate Heligan as one of the finest gardens in England.

St Austell’s port is the lovely Charlestown Harbour, this unspoilt, historic, original Grade II listed harbour has been used as a location for the TV show Poldark, as well as many films and TV shows. You will frequently see old sailing boats and tall ships coming in and out of the harbour. After a busy day, perhaps sample a Cornish Real Ale from one of the many bars and restaurants in the area. St Austell also has ample shops, cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool and other leisure activities. Within easy reach from St Austell are the old fishing ports of Fowey and Mevagissey.

Made famous by the writer Daphne Du Maurier, with its literary events and the wonderful Fowey Regatta every August, Fowey has plenty to do for everyone. You can take a boat trip up the River Fowey, go fishing or pop across the water to explore Polruan and the ’Hall Walk’, which gives you the most stunning views over the Fowey Estuary. Boat trips to Mevagissey are available in the summer season where you can explore the working harbour and narrow cobbled streets.

Should you wish to venture further afield, Cornwall’s capital, Truro, has an impressive cathedral and many things to do for all ages. Padstow, St Ives, Looe, Polperro and Port Isaac are all within easy reach by car. Beautiful beaches, fishing villages, coastal walks, cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding and a plethora of National Trust properties and grounds are all on the doorstep of this gorgeous cottage. Beach 2¼ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile
