Moonrakers Cottage 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4

Situated in the peaceful village of Ruan Lanihorne, this lovely single-storey property is the perfect base to discover the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

Moonrakers is located in the lovely village of Ruan Lanihorne, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just a few miles inland from the Roseland Heritage Coast, this exceptional property offers superb comfort and facilities with wonderful views across the beautiful garden to the countryside beyond. Moonrakers is a ground floor level property attached to the owner’s home. It is the perfect holiday hideaway, ideal for couples and small families. All rooms are light, spacious and tastefully decorated to create a real home from home. The living area has an attractive, wall-mounted fire for additional warmth and a cosy feel. French doors lead out to a private, decked terrace with garden furniture, which is adjacent to a paved area with a BBQ within the front garden.
Moonrakers overlooks the picturesque, ancient St Rumon’s Church and a short walk leads to the award-winning local pub, great whatever the season.

Ruan Lanihorne is a lovely quiet village in south Cornwall, situated approximately 12 miles from the cathedral city of Truro, between the River Fal and its tributary, the Ruan River. The once navigable creek is now a birdwatcher’s heaven as the silt provides a haven for waders and waterfowl. Fantastic countryside and river vistas are plentiful, and many lovely riverside and woodland walks can be enjoyed. Moonrakers is just over 3 miles from the South West coastal footpath with magnificent cliff top scenery and sandy beaches, such as Pendower, Carne, Porthcurnick and Towan.
The area is perfect for visitors looking to explore the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, with its many pretty villages such as Veryan with its famous Round Houses, Philleigh with a 16th-century pub and Portscatho with its gourmet café. A short drive takes you to St Mawes harbour, overlooking the Fal estuary, and the Carrick Roads with St Mawes Castle standing proud on the headland looking over the water to Pendennis Castle in Falmouth.

Both castles were built by Henry VIII and are open to the public. Local pedestrian ferry services run from St Mawes to Falmouth, and the King Harry car Ferry offers a quick route to Feock, Trelissick Gardens and Falmouth, a vibrant port with prestigious marinas and a busy calendar of events throughout the year. River trips up the Carrick Roads and the Helford River can also be enjoyed. If you are lucky, you might see seals and dolphins, or even basking sharks in the Bay. It is a short drive to St Austell, home of the Eden Project, the historic harbours at Mevagissey and Charlestown and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Within easy reach are Lanhydrock House, Caerhayes Castle, Newquay Zoo and the north coast surfing beaches. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub 100 yards and two hotels serving food, 4 miles.
