A charming, home-from-home cottage set within the centre of the hamlet of Houlsyke in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, close to local villages and a short distance from the Yorkshire Heritage Coast.
Rose Cottage offers a welcoming base from which your group can explore an area boasting a host of attractions to suit all ages and tastes. Upon entering the cottage, you’ll find an entrance hall where you can kick off your walking boots and head in to spend a relaxing evening within this characterful property.
Unwind with the entire family in the living room, where you can watch TV, or light a fire in the wood burner. Beyond here is the stylish kitchen/dining area with plenty of space for preparing tasty meals, and big kitchen table with space for everyone.
After a busy day exploring, choose to indulge with a relaxing soak in the bath tub or enjoy a refreshing shower before retiring to one of the cosy and well-presented bedrooms. Choose from one of the double bedrooms or the single bedroom, all freshly made up with white bed linen.
If you are visiting during the summer months, make sure you sit out at the picnic table in the enclosed garden, soaking up the surroundings and enjoying the view over the hills of Fryupdale. To keep you busy while staying at Rose Cottage why not visit The Moors National Park Centre near the neighbouring village of Danby, with its busy tea room and children’s indoor and outdoor play areas.
If you are feeling adventurous, explore the North York Moors, with miles of walking and cycling routes amid high moorland and wooded river valleys.
Slightly further away is the seaside town of Whitby, where you will find a sandy beach and the famous Whitby Abbey. Rose Cottage promises to be a splendid getaway that the whole family will enjoy.
The nearest village is Lealholm, 2 miles, with a little village shop (which sells logs for the fire), lovely pub and train station. Danby is a similar distance in the opposite direction, and has pubs and a train station too, and also a bakery/tea shop and doctor’s surgery. Castleton, 4 miles, has a supermarket open 7am-10pm daily. Whitby, 11 miles, Skelton, 12 miles, and Guisborough, 13 miles, have large supermarkets and other amenities. Pub/restaurant 2 miles
