Extra Amenities

Fisherman’s Cottage built in 1857 sits within the very heart of the pretty village of Flamborough on the Yorkshire coastline. This historic little cottage is just perfect for a traditional seaside break or to enjoy the many birdwatching, cycling, fishing or walking opportunities on the doorstep. Renovated throughout, enter the cosy living room and look forward to relaxing on the deep filled soft leather sofa and plush armchairs. The electric log effect fire will provide a warming presence during the cooler months. The history of this old fisherman’s cottage is on display with open beams and the original brick chimney breast. The chef in the group will be delighted with the country style, well-equipped kitchen, housing everything you could need to cook a delicious evening meal or hearty breakfast. The breakfast bar offers plenty of seating where you can come together to dine or just sit and have a coffee whilst planning the day ahead. Climb the steep cottage stairs and retire to one of the two elegantly presented and cosy bedrooms, comprising of a double and twin.

Fisherman’s Cottage benefits from a stone flagged, enclosed courtyard which catches the sun for much of the day.

With planters packed with flowers this area is perfect for an al-fresco breakfast or glass of wine in the evenings. Locally you will find a selection of pubs, restaurants, takeaways and locally caught fish and shellfish. Flamborough also offers a variety of convenience stores and shops for your holiday essentials.

With magnificent walks from Flamborough Head to the lighthouse built in 1806, towering 213ft over the headland down onto Selwicks bay with sandy beach coves, caves and rock pools. It is also where the famous sea battle took place between the British Navy and John Paul Jones (father of the American Navy) and the Old Lighthouse Flamborough built in 1674 overlooking one of Flamborough’s golf courses. South Landing award winning beach and home of the RNLI working lifeboat centre is situated in the bay with its soft sand and shallow waters ideal for little paddlers and swimming, its red and gold sunsets that disappear into flame filled sky. The Living Sea Centre is also a must visit for both young and old with a circular nature walk taking along the cliff top to Danes Dyke beach with its woodland 148 acre nature reserve and inlet laid dyke stretching 5 mile to Bempton almost cutting off Flamborough from the mainland.

Nearby Sewerby Hall built in 1720 has a great museum containing so much history of the area from prehistoric times to Bronze age and Viking settlements with lots of artefacts. Set in 50 acres of gardens with a small child friendly zoo including penguins, and 9-hole pitch and put and tea rooms. North Landing Beach is where the majority of old Flamborough’s fishing boats were based and the old lifeboat station is a historical link to its past. There are still a few that launch from here including boat trips that will take you around the coves into caves and under the cliffs. Thornwick Bay with Beach coves and pirates caves, beautiful tranquil and spectacular sunrises looking out to Bempton’s 400ft white cliffs where the sky is full of sea birds including puffins stretching out along a panoramic coastline to the RSPB sanctuary at Bempton. The numerous walks around the Flamborough coastline, Yorkshire Wolds and Moors real nature combined with shimmering beaches and bays. Whether seeking peace and quiet, adventure, outstanding natural beautiful scenery, secluded beaches, romance or precious family time you can build your happy memories her
