Perfectly positioned in the heart of Knaresborough Market Place, this beautiful apartment set across three floors has been refurbished in 2021 and combines the character and charm of it’s Grade II listed heritage along with a stylish interior. Enter through the former shop below, originally built as a dwelling around 1760, which now acts as a shared lobby with Hogwood Cottage (UK33574), where guests can store their bikes and plan exciting days out from the array of local information provided. Once inside, the winding staircase will take you to the first floor where you’ll find a lovely, bright living room overlooking the Market Place with a table and chairs placed strategically in the bay window – perfect for people watching. The kitchen is also on this floor and has everything needed to cook up a family feast. A further run of stairs leads up to the second floor to the beautiful bathroom with large walk-in shower, toilet and stone handbasin. The first of the two bedrooms is on this floor with views out over the square. The owner has thoughtfully designed the room with roman blinds, double glazed windows and blackout curtains making it the ideal spot to enjoy lazy mornings in bed.

On the third floor, the attic room is a lovely open space with a double bed, bath and wash basin. Draw a bath in the evening and peep out over the roofs and see Knaresborough from a unique angle.

The central location of this wonderful holiday home means you don’t even need to get in the car to sample the delights of the local area. There are a great selection of pubs restaurants and cafés, as well as an array of independent shops to potter around. Just around the corner from the property, you can cut through the castle grounds which is pretty spectacular in itself, but first admire the breathtaking view of the viaduct before walking down the straggling steps to Waterside. Here you will find the riverside promenade dotted with cafés, and rowing boats that you can hire out along the river Nidd. For those keen on walking there are many local walks nearby.

Visit Old Mother Shipton’s cave or meander along the Nidd Gorge. The long winding roads over the local moors offers some spectacular cycling.

Knaresborough train station can be reached within a 5-minute walk with trains taking you to Harrogate in less than 10 minutes or York within half an hour. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is a brilliant day out with its Royal Pump Museum, restored Turkish baths, and of course, the famous Betty’s tea rooms, offering the best afternoon tea for miles. The walled city of York with its cobbled streets is a fabulous day out, with it’s numerous theatres, galleries and museums, or simply grab a drink at one of the many local bars before heading for a delicious meal out. Slightly further afield, The North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales National Park and coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough can all easily be reached by train or car.
