In particular, the Wednesday market (enshrined in the Domesday Book) and more recently, the once-a-month Saturday artisans’ market. The apartment, set across three floors has a quirky thoughtful, décor, enhancing the character and charm of the Grade ll listed building’s heritage, and was built circa 1760.

On the ground floor is a hallway shared with Hogwood Cottage (UK33574). Once inside, a door will lead you to Market Place View and open onto a curved staircase leading to the first floor with a lovely bright living room with high ceilings, overlooking the marketplace, and with a table and chairs strategically placed in the bay window. The kitchen, although small, is well equipped. A further flight of stairs leads up to the second floor to the stylish shower roomwith a large walk-in shower.

The first of the two bedrooms is on this floor with views out over the marketplace. On the third floor is the second bedroom and it is a lovely, bright and open space with a large double bed and a bath. Please note that because of the architectural style of the property, the stairs, although steeped in charm, could be a problem for people less mobile. Just around the corner, you can cut through the castle grounds which is pretty spectacular, but first, admire the breath-taking view of the viaduct before walking down the straggling steps to Waterside. Here you will find the riverside promenade dotted with cafés and rowing boats that you can hire out along the River Nidd.
