There are numerous walks and cycling trails from the doorstep, and just beyond, lie the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local attractions include stately homes at Sutton Park, Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, abbey ruins at Byland and Rievaulx, and family fun at Flamingoland and Go Ape. Bustling market towns can be found at Easingwold, Malton and Helmsley, and there are numerous picturesque villages with traditional country inns serving generous Yorkshire hospitality and real ales.
