Adjacent to the village green in the picturesque village of Redmire, with views across to Penhill, this spacious, semi-detached and very well-equipped cottage offers a high level of comfort and gives that home from home feeling. For guests bringing their four-legged friends, the owner has provided a dog bed, bowls, throws, towels and doggie treats. In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this lovely picture perfect village has country walks and some spectacular views over Lower Wensleydale. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are some superb walking and cycling trails available direct from the door, making this a perfect base from which to explore the pretty Dales villages. Try the circular walk from Redmire to Aysgarth taking in both the Redmire Falls and spectacular Aysgarth Falls, Castle Bolton where Mary Queen of Scots was held in the 16th century, Preston-under-Scar, the River Ure and Penhill, passing through the beautiful Dales countryside.
For getting out and about, there is a station on the Wensleydale Railway. The line runs for 16 miles and links the village with Leyburn and Leeming in the Vale of York, and is serviced by diesel and occasionally steam engines making several return trips daily. After a day exploring, you can head back to the village and pop into the local village inn. Offering wholesome food and hand pulled ales, and being just a stones’ throw from the property, is it ideal should you fancy eating out. If you prefer an easy night in and ready prepared food, a takeaway service is provided. A welcome alternative that proves hugely popular is the once monthly mobile Thai kitchen, which parks up on the village green and cooks fantastic food. Nearby are the market towns of Hawes and Leyburn with their many shops, pubs, restaurants and craft workshops, where craftsmen display their skills and sell handmade products.
For groceries, Leyburn is 4 miles away and has convenience stores aswell as an award-winning delicatessen and winery. Fresh eggs are available in the village and a newspaper can be provided at the nearby farm.
Historical castles and ruins are numerous with Bolton Castle almost on the doorstep, and Middleham Castle a few miles away. From Middleham square you can sit and watch the impressive sight as the race horses pass through on their way to the gallops. The Forbidden Corner is just down the road with its labrynth of tunnels and underground caves to explore. With so much to do and see, you will certainly want to return. Shop and restuarant 5 miles, pub 200 yards.
Can't make your mind up - bungalow or seaside house to rent? Yorkshire is many peoples first choice. There is plenty of cottages that accept dogs in Yorkshire Dales, Herriot Country or North Yorkshire Moors - some have Easter breaks.
