This detached cottage, adjacent to the owner’s home and caravan site, is set in the little quaint village of Ebberston, which is situated between Pickering and Scarborough. A little stream runs all the way through the village, and is surrounded by traditional Yorkshire wall gardens and flowers hanging down to the water. An array of daffodils greets you if you are lucky enough to visit when they are in flower. At the top of the village, you have some wonderful woodland walks that can take you right up into Dalby Forest. Walking through the woods you will come across a small monument known as Alfred’s Tower. This monument was erected in1790 to mark a cave site in the hillside where King Alchfrid, a king of Northumbria, rested in 704AD having been wounded in battle.

From this site you have views all the way down the valley and across the Yorkshire Wolds. Dalby Forest is part of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and with over 8,000 acres of woodland to explore, you will enjoy the walks it has to offer as well as the fantastic mountain bike trails. Bikes can be hired from the visitor’s centre.
Ebberston is just 10 miles from the coast, with the traditional seaside town of Scarborough being the nearest resort. You are also ideally placed to visit Whitby, Filey and Bridlington, as well as the market towns of Pickering, Malton and Helmsley.

The North Yorkshire Moors steam railway is just along the road at Pickering, where you can catch the steam train to Whitby stopping off at Grosmont, the fictional village of Aidensfield in the TV programme ’Heartbeat’. From the North Yorkshire Moors to the Yorkshire Wolds and the east coast, these cottages at Studley House Farm are an ideal base to visit all three. Beach 10 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub 450 yards, restaurant ½ mile.
Cow Pasture Cottage can be booked together with Swallowtail Cottage (ref UK2296) to accommodate up to 6 guests.
