This historic cottage is one of only two pairs of cruck framed long houses which survive in the village. Traditionally these long houses were built with arched strong beams to support the roof over the families and livestock which lived together inside. You can still see many of the original features including the beams in the ceiling as well as the feature fireplace in the entrance hallway. This beautiful country cottage is set over two floors. On the ground floor you have the entrance hall, leading to the living room, which has an electric fire in the stone fireplace, keeping you warm and cosy in the winter months. From the living room you have the dining room which is adjacent to the well-equipped kitchen. In the welcoming cosy kitchen you have a large gas range cooker with a double oven and eight gas rings, so you can cook hearty home cooked meals for you all to enjoy together.

The cottage benefits from a ground floor shower room with toilet. Upstairs on the first floor the first bedroom has a double bed beneath the vaulted beamed ceiling, complete with fitted wardrobes and drawers so you have plenty of storage for all of your belongings. In the second bedroom you have the original cruck beam, this room has a second double bed, with built in wardrobes and bedside cabinets. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over.
Kings Head Cottage is next door to the parish church where the bells are still rung every Sunday. You are just steps away from the many shops, cafés, restaurants and attractions this delightful town has to offer. Pickering is a wonderful base for exploring the North York Moors and the nearby coastline. Pickering itself is a pretty market town, with a medieval castle.

The steam train winds its way from Pickering over the rolling heather, through valleys and over hills to many picturesque villages all the way to Whitby, ideal for a special day out and in December there is even a themed Christmas Santa Special on the steam train. The North York Moors is a haven for walkers with many trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife. Nearby you have Malton the food capital of Yorkshire with a market, award-winning restaurants and a cookery school. Castle Howard is one of Britain’s finest stately homes, sure to fill you with awe. There are also the beaches of Scarborough, Filey, Whitby and Bridlington nearby.
