Offering local walks right on your doorstep, both east and west of the River Swale and on the route of the famous Pennine Way, Halfehill Cottage really is a walker’s paradise. The scenery on either side of the River Swale is fantastic and makes for a wonderful walk to St Agatha’s Abbey and church in the nearby hamlet of Easby. Halfehill Cottage is perfect for those wanting to enjoy a break surrounded by history, great architecture and plenty of places to explore. Just a short walk to Richmond’s cobbled streets, with top quality restaurants and shops, guests will find an abundance of activities all year round.

There is a farmer’s market that takes place on occasion on the cobbled market square. Why not go fishing at Brompton Lakes, just 2 miles away, home to two coarse fishing lakes, which are also close to the banks of the River Swale. Also perfect for walkers and cyclists, guests will find many woodland walks that pass right through the town and further beyond into the Yorkshire Dales.
Within easy reach are many historic houses and National Trust properties which really are worth a day trip to visit, as well as the wondrous splendours of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is within very easy driving distance.

Enjoy a day at the races, as Catterick Racecourse is only an 11-minute drive away, or a little further afield, you will be able to enjoy the splendour of the York races too within an hours’ drive. The medieval city of York has its own history and tourist attractions in abundance, from the National Railway Museum to the Jorvik Viking Centre. Beach 28 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants 100 yards
