The Lobster Pot is real hidden gem. Recently refurbished to a high standard, this former miners cottage is the perfect base for lovers of the great outdoors and ideal for a couples getaway. There is a small but modern kitchen and welcoming living room, complete with a multi-fuel burner, perfect for relaxing in front of after a day of exploration and sightseeing in this wonderful part of the world. There is a pub serving pub grub just a short walk away, a fish and chip shop and small local store in the village but the main attraction is the stunning beach and access to the Cleveland Way.
The beach at Skinningrove is perfect for walking the dog as it rarely gets busy, even in the summer. This could be due to the fact that there are so many bays and coves along the North Yorkshire coastline.
The fishing village of Staithes is nearby and is famous for its links to Captain Cook, pirates, traditional pubs serving real ale and home cooked food and can be accessed by road or enjoying the coastal walk along the Cleveland Way. The town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is also walking distance on the Cleveland Way in the opposite direction, and is popular with surfers and history lovers alike. Just on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and the Danby Visitors Centre is a good place to start where you’ll find plenty of things to do and learn all about the local history and culture. The National Park has a wealth of walking and cycling routes ranging from beginner to championship standard, The Tour de Yorkshire passes through the park annually.
The bustling town of Whitby is 15 miles away with its regular festivals and events such as the Regatta, Goth Weekends and Steam Punk Weekends to name just a few, taking place throughout the year. Enjoy the view from the top of the 199 steps that lead up to the abbey or stroll around the cobbled back streets with many independent traders offering an array of hand crafted goods. There is so much to see and do in this wonderful part of the world that one visit is never enough. Beach 400 yards. Shop 350 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
