Then a second small set of stairs leads you up to the living room with large arched windows filling the room with light. Unwind here on the sofa and armchair whilst watching TV on the large 43” screen. The adjoining kitchen has bespoke handmade units and a Belfast sink, giving this room a unique rustic feel. This grand building was once the Pentecostal Church, with quite a complex history dating all the way back to 1703 where there are the first records of a church on this site, over time it was extended and redeveloped, evolving over the years until 1868 where it was completely transformed into the building you can see today.

In 2008 the church was converted into apartments whilst still retaining its appealing external appearance as well as some beautiful original features internally. The Loft was extensively refurnished in 2021 to welcome guests on an exceptional stay on the Yorkshire Coast.
The South Bay is less than 200 yards away, Scarborough is a traditional seaside resort that consists of two bays with a long, flat marine drive which is great for that stroll along the front. The castle stands majestically, perched on the hill, separating the two bays. Here in the centre of Scarborough, there are an array of shops to browse, as well as a wide selection of restaurants, cafés and bars to enjoy.
Attractions in Scarborough include the Alpamare water park and spa where you can relax in a glass fronted sauna with views out to sea, or swim in steaming hot pools out in the open air, there is also the Sea Life centre with a seal rescue, Peasolm Oriental Park with paddleboats and one of Europe’s largest open-air theatres.

For those who love walking, Scarborough forms part of the Cleveland Way and the last stretch is from Scarborough to Filey, the finishing point. To the north on the coast is the bustling town of Whitby and the whimsical village of Robin Hood’s Bay perched on the edge of the sea. Heading inland you have the fantastic North York Moors National Park to explore. Yorkshire is also famous for its stately homes, and within a short drive there is Sledmere House, Castle Howard, Sewerby Hall and Burton Constable. The medieval city of York can be reached by train direct from Scarborough or an hour drive by car.
Only a 10-minute walk away from the train and bus station, so perfect for guests using public transport.
The Loft (UK41844) can be booked with The Town House (UK41845) to accommodate up to 10 guests.
