Dick’n’Liddy’s Cottage is well located in a quiet part of the pretty village of Gargrave. Overlooking the charming village church, it is close to local amenities including the train station, good pubs and an Indian restaurant. This charming end of terrace cottage has been lovingly restored and furnished with an eclectic mix of carefully selected pieces of antique furniture and modern touches. It manages to combine character with all the contemporary conveniences including a bespoke kitchen with Belfast sink and oak surfaces, and an elegant Victorian-style bathroom with freestanding shower bath. The cottage exudes a truly luxurious ambience, ideal for those looking for a relaxing retreat and cosy nights in front of the fire after a busy day’s walking, cycling or sightseeing. There is a delightful side and rear garden with a stone patio and garden furniture, making it an ideal area for enjoying the last of the evening sun.
Gargrave is a small village which has the picturesque River Aire running through the centre, alongside three charming village greens, perfect for some easy riverside walks or lazy picnics.
The moors and hills form a back drop and provide more of a challenge for walkers or off road bike riding. A little further afield lies the market town of Skipton with its canal cruises, Norman castle and wide sweeping high street with a wide selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and there is also an indoor swimming pool and a golf course. Also accessible for alternative days out are the Lake District, the Trough of Bowland and of course, all of the glorious scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The village of Malham, 7 miles, is worth a visit with amazing natural spectacles including Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss. Ilkley is 14 miles away, and is famous for its Cow and Calf Rocks up on Ilkley Moor. The town is also host to the well-known and popular Betty’s Tea Room, and there is a good selection of independent shops. The pretty market town of Settle, 12 miles, can be reached by train from Gargrave, and has a market square, variety of shops and cafés and of course, the famous Settle-Carlisle railway.
For the shopaholics you can get a train from Gargrave through to the city of Leeds where you will find an abundance of shops and The Royal Armouries. Shop and restaurant ¼ mile, pub 100 yards.
