This is an exquisite Victorian townhouse set in the heart of the characterful coastal town of Whitby in North Yorkshire. Built circa 1871, it was home to Captain John Milburn, famous for a lifeboat rescue at Robin Hoods Bay during a blizzard in 1881. Located in a peaceful area, within a 10-minute walk from supermarkets, traditional pubs, bars, restaurants, shops, the train station and the beach. It is the perfect location to explore the many attractions Whitby has to offer. The property also has a pub, butchers, convenience store and fish and chip shop within 160 metres of the front door.

Due to the location as well as the wide range of facilities in this property, it makes the perfect spot for friends and family to come together and enjoy a memorable stay. Two stone steps lead up through the small front garden to the front door. Stepping inside you are greeted by high ceilings, decorative Victorian plaster coving and the sweeping wooden banister coaxing you to explore the floors above, all traditional features in a propertyof this age.

The hallway on the ground floor branches to the different rooms. At the front with tall bay windows bathing the room in light, you have the living room, with comfortable sofas around the TV. The dining room is separate and is the ideal space for unwinding together in an evening, with a hearty home cooked meal or perhaps some local fish and chips – a yes taste of the seaside. From the dining room you have the kitchen. This carefully laid out room has everything needed to create meals you can all savour together. The kitchen leads out into the enclosed back yard where you can sit out and take in the fresh air or use the outdoor hose to rinse off muddy boots, sandy paws and even wetsuits after a day enjoying the great outdoors.
Up on the first floor you have a beautiful bedroom with kingsize bed as well as a twin bedroom, and the family bathroom boasts a sunken bath as well as a cubicle shower. On the second floor at the top of the house you have a double bedroom beneath the eaves which has its own en-suite shower room.

Whitby is a great seaside town, ideal for a family holiday with its great range of amenities and has something to do for everybody.

For explorers by foot, across the Whitby Swing Bridge is the iconic 199 steps up to the abbey on the cliff top where you can go on ghosts walks to discover more about the area’s heritage. Alternatively, blissful walks can be had along the long golden beach which stretches for miles to the neighbouring village of Sandsend.

For explorers by car, along the coast you can also visit the picturesque Robin Hoods Bay, historically famous for piracy and smuggling. Also within easy driving distance are the towns of Staithes and Scarborough.

For those exploring by train, the heritage steam train runs from Whitby to Pickering and stops at the beautiful village of Goathland, used in ’Heartbeat’ and Harry Potter films as Hogsmeade, and for sea explorers, there is a range of fishing and sight-seeing boat trips including whale and dolphin watching.
