This contemporary semi-detached cottage is perfectly located a stone’s throw from the centre of Whitby, in a quaint and quiet yard, making it surprisingly peaceful. It boasts fantastic views of the abbey and has been restored in a beautiful nautical theme. Much of the bespoke wooden furniture and beds have been hand crafted to a very good standard making this cottage unique. The second floor bedroom is beautifully decorated and has wonderful wooden beams. Although parking is not available at the property, there are many pay and display car parks throughout the town. The cottage is just a short walk to Skinner Street with its many local cafés, bakers and bars. A 5-minute stroll brings you to the water’s edge and cobbled backstreets with independent shops, offering everything from precious gems to ice cream.
Whitby has become a busy year round resort, and there are festivals and events taking place throughout the year, including the famous bi-annual Goth weekenders, a regatta and music festivals. It also boasts 3 miles of unspoilt golden beaches for you to enjoy. The Yorkshire Heritage Coast offers many coves and bays to visit, with some fantastic views of cliffs and beaches, cliff side walks, and stories of Captain Cook and smuggling. Take the cinder track walk from just outside Whitby through to Robin Hood’s Bay, or join up with the Cleveland Way for a longer walk. Head inland to enjoy the North York Moors National Park with its quaint villages such as Grosmont and Goathland, catch a steam train for the best views as it snakes inland from Whitby, or explore waterfalls and viewpoints across the park.
The Victorian seaside resort of Scarborough is a short drive away, and as well as golden sands it has regular concerts at the open air theatre. Further afield, you’re just an hour’s drive from the walled city of York and its many attractions. The war museum of Eden Camp at Malton, the market town of Pickering and theme parks such as Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley are also nearby. Or enjoy a visit to one of the many abbeys and stately homes in the National Park or venture over to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Beach 350 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 25 yards.
