Standing next door to the manned level crossing of the single track York/Harrogate railway line, this semi-detached, former station house has been sympathetically converted retaining many of its original features, including the fireplaces and the stunning sweeping staircase with its wrought iron balustrade. Situated in the village of Upper Poppleton, which is one of York’s most sought after neighbourhoods, visitors can expect a peaceful and luxury holiday experience.
The Station House has been furnished to a very high standard and has two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom (zip and link). All have been tastefully decorated, with the ground floor room benefiting from en-suite facilities. The kitchen/dining room is large and very well equipped with a modern feel.
The large house bathroom features a bath and separate shower cubicle, and there are complimentary toiletries available. Outside there is small enclosed courtyard with garden furniture. Parking is at the front of the property with space for one car, and there is additional on road parking available.
Upper Poppleton offers great local amenities including shops and a selection of pubs serving delicious food. Both Upper and Nether Poppleton have a number of butchers, cafés, hairdressers, a tennis court and community centre. The Station House is ideally located to explore York, 3 miles away, and its historic city walls, with the railway station next door, the Park and Ride only a 1-minute drive away and a local bus stop just down the road.
Just a 5-minute train journey away, the medieval winding streets play host to cafés, bars and restaurants, and the shopping is some of the best in the country. The country houses of Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Beningbrough Hall and Ripley Castle are only a short drive away, as is Harrogate and Yorkshire’s ‘Food Capital’, Malton. The coastal resorts of Scarborough and Whitby are also accessible. A fishing lake and golf can also be found nearby. Shop and pub 300 yards, restaurant ½ mile.
The Station House can be booked together with The Carriage House (ref UK2558) to accommodate up to 10 guests.
