Self-catering and holiday cottages to rent in Cambridgeshire

In the heart of the East of England, Cambridgeshire is much more than Cambridge, brilliant though it is! Lying in the western portion of East Anglia, it is landlocked by Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Suffolk. Like many parts of east Anglia its topography can be summarised as fairly flat with lots of 'fens' or wetlands. The highest point is about 400ft. The River Cam and the Great Ouse are the main waterways and the Cam makes Cambridge what it is. It gently meanders through some of the most startling beautiful buildings in England. Cambridge University is one the most famous places of learning in the world and the Colleges compete to be the most beautiful. There are some fantastic self catering choices for accommodation in Cambridgeshire, whether for couples, families or groups. Renting a holiday cottage offers great value for money - 5 star luxury to more basic accommodation there is sure to be a perfect place for you to have a memorable stay.

Cambridge cottages and accommodation

The rest of Cambridgeshire also has some really stunning scenery, picturesque buildings and lovely village to explore. A perfect place for a great holiday or short break. Technically in Suffolk, but geographically it looks like it should be in Cambridgeshire, Newmarket is the centre for Flat Racing, or horse racing. The long flat open spaces are ideal for training horses and some of the best studs are found in the area. Wisbech, St Neots and Ely are some of the other places of interest and all over Cambridgeshire are some glorious Stately Homes and Cathedrals.

Family friendly self-catering holiday cottages give an immense amount of freedom for travellers with children. There is a wide range of properties both in the the heart of the city or in the rural villages close by. It is possible to rent a room in a historic Cambridge college during holiday times too, these are usually on a bed and breakfast basis - although self-catering allows you to visit local coffee shops for breakfast!
