Tucked away down a country lane in a pretty Norfolk village, Grade ll listed Middle Cottage is the perfect place in which to relax and unwind, away from the stresses of modern life. A lavender lined path leads to the front door which takes you directly into the cosy living room with its warming wood burner, a great place to settle down with a good book or relax watching TV. The well-equipped kitchen/dining room, with its bespoke handmade kitchen units, has everything you will need to cook up a treat during your stay. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are plenty of super gastro pubs nearby to tempt you, one of which is within walking distance. Many places will also welcome your four-legged friend, making North Norfolk a haven for dogs.
Outside the kitchen, you will find a little courtyard which leads to the summerhouse and pretty west-facing garden, a perfect spot for a sundowner or al fresco lunch in summer. Venture upstairs in the cottage and you will find the large and welcoming master bedroom with a kingsize bed, dressed in crisp white cotton sheets.
Beyond this, a small landing leads you to a single bedroom and the bathroom, both of which enjoy lovely views over the garden and millpond beyond.
The property is situated on a quiet village lane, leading down to a ford over the River Glaven. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are numerous walks nearby making the property ideal for walkers, dog owners, bird and wildlife enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys being in the countryside and also near to the coast. There are many lovely walks in and around the Glaven Valley from nearby Bayfield Hall, Glandford, Wiveton and Hunworth.
The attractive Georgian town of Holt is just over a mile away, where you can enjoy discovering its many original shops, galleries and cafés, often tucked away in hidden corners. If you like, you can walk to Holt from the cottage along a footpath with lovely views back over the Glaven Valley. You can also explore Holt Country Park, a 100-acre woodland with picnic areas, nature trails and a playground or catch a Poppy Line steam or diesel train to Weybourne and Sheringham from the North Norfolk railway station just outside Holt in the season.
In July, Holt Festival brings the best in street performers, musicians, poets, actors, dancers, artists and comedians to the town.
Middle Cottage is also 4½ miles from the coast at Blakeney. Explore the varied and beautiful North Norfok coast from the vast sandy beaches of Wells and Holkham, to the wild beauty of the salt marshes at Cley, Morston and Stiffkey and the traditional seaside resorts of Sheringham and Cromer. Discover traditional flint villages, magnificent stately homes such as Holkham, Blickling and Houghton Hall, and charming market towns such as Burnham Market.
