It also boasts two parking spaces and a lovely private courtyard garden, a rarity indeed this close to the city centre.
Locals will tell you why Norwich appeared on The Times’ best places to live list and indeed has made it on to several top ten cities to visit lists. But it really is a well-kept secret and offers all the advantages of a city break but with a small centre that is easy to navigate around on foot.
Packed with great architecture, do remember to look up when you are pounding the pavements as above the shop frontages lies a great deal of clues to this amazing city’s history. Norwich boasts a wealth of attractions including stunning cathedrals and churches, numerous museums, a splendid Norman castle, galleries and a range of theatres too, including a quirky and much celebrated puppet theatre. The city also plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year including comedy nights, a Lord Mayor’s procession, dramatic firework displays over the stunning castle and a well-established Pride event.
Shopaholics will find a great range of indoor and outdoor high street shopping and an award-winning market and Lanes area, which is packed with boutique and artisan cafés, shops and restaurants.
This makes for a great year-round break and is especially lovely coming up to Christmas when the whole city comes alive with dancing lights. Foodies will also be spoilt for choice with every taste and budget catered for, from chain favourites to chic one offs, many of which serve local produce. And the growing foodie culture in the city also means you can dine around the world without ever leaving this fabulous city base.
If you can tear yourself away from everything on offer on your doorstep, the mainline rail station can deliver you to the heart of the Norfolk Broads in around 15 minutes and to the stunning North Norfolk coastline in around 40 minutes too, both of which are also easily reachable by car. And just as you are sure to fall for the charms of this fine city, you are sure to want to return to No. 36 too, just to do it all agai
