Vine Cottage is a circa 1900 mid terrace cottage in the village of Whatstandwell, nestling in the Derwent River gorge between Matlock and Belper on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park.

Vine Cottage is a gorgeous circa 1900 mid-terrace cottage in the village of Whatstandwell on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park and the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perfectly placed for keen walkers as the surrounding countryside offers some fantastic walking routes from the doorstep, with some of the most stunning views in the Peak District.
Entering this picturesque cottage via the front door, you will find the lovely living room is an ideal space to snuggle in the evening with the open fire and catch up with a good book or watch a film. The compact kitchen/diner offers everything you need to rustle up a delicious meal during your stay.

There is a bespoke dining booth that has been created in the kitchen to enjoy the most amazing views! The kitchen leads out onto the pretty rear garden. Upstairs, the cottage offers two bedrooms with lovely views over the hills beyond. There is a bathroom with a bath on this floor as well. Climb the stairs again and you will find another double bedroom with views to enjoy. If you can pull yourself away from the interior, take a step into the pretty garden which leads down to the fields and views.
This area is steeped in history with the famous National Tramway Museum a particular favourite with visitors. Matlock sits just a few miles away offering shops, pubs, tea rooms, and restaurants, as well as attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham which offer guests amazing views of the gorge from the cable cars that take you to the top.

Nearby you will discover the high peak cycle trail providing wonderful experiences for all. Travel a little further to the north and you will find the market town of Bakewell with the famous Bakewell tart to sample! Try not to miss the many historic houses dotted around such as Chatsworth House and Park, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick. For those thrill seekers amongst you, you are not far from the amazing Alton Towers Theme Park. A fabulous time to be had by everyone!.
