Built in 1790 and renovated in 2019, yet retaining much of its character and charm, this detached cottage sits on Lord Redesdale’s Estate, and once was lived in by the woodman who ran the ancient woodlands surrounding the property. Located within the Northumberland National Park, in the International Dark Sky Park, there is a charming, half a mile woodland walk from the door taking you to the local pub. This lovely cottage is ideal for couples or a small family and with the cosy wood burner, it’s perfect for those cooler evenings where you can relax in this peaceful cottage.
Only 3½ miles from Otterburn, with a lovely local pub, also serving as a wedding venue, and a charming village store stocking all the essentials, you will have your every need catered for. The area serves as a great base for those wishing to explore the county with Kielder Forest Water Park only 18 miles away, an acclaimed International Dark Sky Park. Hadrian’s Wall is easily reached, and a trip to The Sill, a modern tourist attraction, is only 31 miles.
Whilst out discovering Hadrian’s Wall country, drop into Hexham and stop off at the abbey with the old Saxon crypt, or visit the Tuesday market set out on The Shambles. The Heritage Coast in also within easy reach and makes a lovely day out. Stop off at Alnwick Castle, 31 miles, then spend the day on the sandy beach at Bamburgh.
