Amble is widely known as ‘the friendliest port’ and a warm welcome awaits from the locals. Plenty of little cafes and pubs are around of all varieties, including super seafood eateries and an award winning ice cream parlour. Hire a little beach hut for a nominal charge available from the Harbour Master, located at the Little Shore by the Pier, they are truly a lovely little treat for a day. The local Sunday market is bustling with visitors and locals, why not pop by into the little shopping pods and the Lobster Fishery to see how lobsters are grown, or perhaps pick up some fresh seafood.
Trips to Coquet Island are a wonderful treat in the summer, or alternatively take a walk along the coastal path to Warkworth to see the castle and riverside, a lovely morning out.
Nearby Alnwick is home to the famous castle used in the Harry Potter films, whilst the heritage coast line Area of Natural Beauty stretches from here up to Berwick-on-Tweed. Days out can be as diverse as you wish, head over to Hadrian’s Wall or onto the National Park, or perhaps during a rainy day, take a trip to the Metro Centre for some retail therapy, one of the largest in the UK. No matter your age there is plenty to see and do in this beautiful area, the county of Northumberland is truly an unspoilt county which you will be sure to want to return another time.
