Fleetwood makes a good base to explore the Fylde Coast by car, tram or on the ferry across the Wyre to Knott End and Pilling marshes. Visit the Marine Hall and Gardens, Fleetwood Market, Freeport Outlet Shopping Village and marina, Fleetwood Museum and the beach. Blackpool is 9 miles away with Pleasure Beach, zoo, indoor water park, Sea Life Centre, waxworks and tower, or take a trip to Thornton, Cleveleys or Lytham St Annes, with golf courses, shops, bars and eateries. Wyre Estuary Country Park is 5 miles; within easy driving distance are the Lake District, Forest of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales (about 1 hour). Lancaster and Preston about 50 minutes.
