There is childrens playground in Ravenstonedale and some Gilbertine ruins in the grounds of St. Oswald's church.
Other notable local attractions include the Settle-Carlisle railway, reputedly the most attractive line in the UK, which winds its way through some of the finest scenery in Britain, runs through Mallerstang. At Mallterstang, there is the ruin of Pendragon Castle, built in the 12th century and reputed to be the place where Uther Pendragon, King Arthur's father died.
The ancient market town of Kirkby Stephen is just seven miles away and sits at the head of the Eden Valley and on Alfred Wainwrights coast-to-coast route. The area also offers river fishing on the Eden, Belah and Lune, horse riding, golf, mountain biking and paragliding. A little further afield are the fells, lakes and mountains of the Lake District and the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales both offering plenty of attractions.
Sandbed is a four star Visit England cottage. It has a delightful mix of old and new features, with exposed beams, stone work and flagged floor, the furniture has been carefully hand picked to provide charm and character along with all modern conveniences.
The downstairs living space is open plan with a log burner (starter pack included in tariff), digital TV, DVD and a fully equipped kitchen. Providing you with everything that you need for your self-catering holiday. The upstairs rooms are reached by a handmade oak staircase opening on to a gallery sitting area from which there are 2 good sized bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with 2 single beds. There is also a spacious shower room with WC, basin and large quadrant shower cubicle. There are gardens to the side and rear of the cottage with seating areas looking out on to the fells.
Heating and Electricity are included in the price. Bed linen and tea towels are provided. Cots and high chairs are available on request. Starter pack for log burner.
Change over day is Saturday. Arrival time is after 3.30 PM, departure before 10.00 AM. The property is available for weekend and short breaks

From M6, exit at J37 and take the A684 to Sedbergh. From Sedbergh take the A683 towards Kirkby Stephen. After approximately 7 milesSandbed Cottage is on the left.
From A1, take the A66 west from Scotch corner to Brough. Turn south at Brough on the A685 towards Kirkby Stephen. Continue through Kirkby Stephen. After about 2 miles turn left on the A683 signposted to Sedbergh. After approximately 5 miles Sandbed Cottage is on the right.
