Dory Cottage is the perfect little getaway nestled in the charming town of Dalton-in-Furness. It’s ideal for a small family looking for a quiet retreat.
Please note not suitable for four adults. Upon entering, you’ll find a snug living area. Just beyond is a well-equipped kitchen, ready for preparing homely meals. The first floor holds a comfortable double bedroom. Head upstairs to find a spacious second-floor featuring a king-sized bed, with skylights that bring in soft, natural light during the day. A family bathroom on the first floor includes a bathtub with an overhead shower. Out front, you’ll find a delightful garden, complete with a bubbling hot tub to soak in to accommodate up to three guests. A quaint summerhouse is included, ideal for a quiet read or a cup of coffee as you enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Dalton-in-Furness is a charming market town in Cumbria, just on the outskirts of the Lake District. Dalton is dotted with characterful old buildings, narrow streets, and quaint shops, giving it a timeless appeal that visitors find enchanting.
One of Dalton’s highlights is Dalton Castle, a historic 14th-century pele tower managed by the National Trust. Just a short distance from the town is the South Lakes Safari Zoo. Cumbria offers a wealth of attractions and natural beauty within easy reach. Just a short drive away, the Lake District’s famed lakes and fells beckon, with Lake Windermere, Coniston Water, and Derwentwater providing stunning spots for boating, hiking, and picnics.
Each lake is surrounded by charming villages—Ambleside, Bowness-on-Windermere, and Keswick—where visitors can enjoy cosy cafés, local shops, and classic pubs. For a historical day out, the picturesque village of Cartmel is known for its ancient priory and traditional sticky toffee pudding.
