Conveniently located only 200 yards from the sea and the central square of this quaint, historic sailing town and harbour. Explore the River Yar with its wonderful estuary and nature reserve, and the network of walking and cycling routes extending to Tennyson Down and all the way to the amazing rock formations of The Needles and Alum Bay.
The fantastic Totland Bay is also nearby where you will find a bar, restaurant and a café to try the local seafood, experience some of the finest sunsets or enjoy a stroll along to neighbouring Colwell Bay. There are spectacular views across the Solent to mainland England, with clear waters and gently sloping sand and shingle beach.
The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along the former railway line close by.
Cycle to the famous Needles landmark or take on the full round the island route which is 66 miles long, and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee held over the May Day Bank Holiday. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way, you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés, amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce.
