Beach 200 yards. The Old Mill is the ideal choice for a family seaside holiday or a relaxing escape at any time of year. This historic, Grade II listed house is thought to be the oldest in the village dating back to the 17th Century. Steeped in history it retains many of its original features, charm and character. Bucks Mills was the home to Prunella Scales during World War II. The Old Mill was the village guest house at this time and its landlady is thought to have been the inspiration for Sybil Fawlty.
Just a stones throw from the secluded sand and shingle beach, it sits in the tiny cliff top hamlet of Bucks Mills, one of the most beautiful villages in North Devon, a secluded hidden gem with pretty white washed cottages speckled along a wooded valley at the end of a no through road.
This delightful, spacious holiday home is one of the last adjacent to the steep clifftop pathway which leads you down to the glorious beach overlooking Lundy Island and the Atlantic Ocean. There are plenty of rock pools to keep young and old entertained or have a go at sea fishing.
There is plenty for everyone with birdwatching, fishing, riding, golf, surfing and sailing close by. The coastal path passes by the cottage and leads you to the famous fishing village of Clovelly and the unspoilt beach at Peppercombe, or if you are feeling energetic, walk all the way to Westward Ho!
A village store and post office is one mile away and nearby Bideford has restaurants and town amenities along with boat trips to Lundy Island, or hire a bike and explore the nearby Tarka Trail.
RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Docton Mill and Hartland Quay are well worth a visit along with many pretty fishing villages to explore including nearby Instow and Appledore. For family fun the Big Sheep, The Ultimate Adventure and Milky Way Adventure parks are a must. Beach 200 yards. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 2½ mile
Need inspiration - self-catering in farmland or cottage near the sea? South West England is a great holiday destination. There is plenty of pet friendly holidays in Truro and Falmouth, Padstow and the Lizard Peninsula or Bodmin Moor - some have golf courses close by.
