Extra Amenities

Converted into a very spacious, light and airy holiday property with a large open plan living area, this former old dairy, adjacent to the owner’s home at Rectory Farm, is surrounded by fields with sheep and rolling countryside. The property is deceptively spacious with a large open plan living space and a private patio with attractive planters. It offers a peaceful and relaxing retreat, yet is situated just off the A37, providing ample opportunities to explore the many attractions within Somerset. The nearest town is Castle Cary, 5 miles, famous for its Round House, an old town lock-up.

Somerton, 6 miles, is allegedly an ancient capital of Wessex and Shepton Mallet has a 50ft market cross dating from 1500. Glastonbury, a thriving market town and a major tourist venue, is 10 miles away. Visit Glastonbury Tor, the abbey and its spiritual essence within the town, and the annual Glastonbury Festival which takes place in nearby Pilton. Street is home to a famous shoe industry and is now well known for its designer outlet shopping complex, Clarks Village. Yeovil town has pedestrian precincts, a wide variety of shops and a number of weekly markets. Spend a day in Wells, England’s smallest city, which is not only a fantastic market town but includes the magnificent cathedral and Bishop’s Palace and gardens.

Slightly further afield is Sherborne with its castle, and Cheddar, famous not only for its cheese but also the caves and gorge. Other attractions include Haynes Motor Museum, 6 miles, Yeovilton Naval Air Museum, 10 miles, Bath and West Showground, 7 miles, and National Trust houses such as Lytes Cary and Tintinhull, and Montacute, the location for the TV series ’Wolf Hall’.
