Beech Tree Cottage at Blackaton Manor Farm is a two-bedroom cottage set within Dartmoor National Park high up at 1,100 feet near the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Peacefully situated down a private drive on a 400-acre working beef and sheep farm, it boasts beautiful views of the surrounding moorland and tor-topped hills. The farm is just a 5-minute drive from the Bronze Age settlement of Grimspound, and a 15-minute drive from the most famed and beloved beauty spots of Hay Tor, Hound Tor and Dartmeet. Whether on foot or on bike, there are endless routes straight from the doorstep, and the more adventurous may wish to tackle the rugged and dramatic Dartmoor Tors.
The ground floor benefits from a fully equipped open plan kitchen/dining room, perfect for gathering with your friends and family around the dining table for a celebratory meal.
The utility and large boot room area next door houses the washing machine. Sit outside and enjoy the sun in the front garden with its outdoor seating and gas barbecue. This is the perfect spot to plan your adventurous day ahead over a morning coffee. On the first floor you will find the living room, which boasts a cosy wood burner. There are two comfortable bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. The property is located in the middle of a working livestock farm with farm cats and dogs.
Just a short drive away is Widecombe-in-the-Moor, renowned for its Fair and its Church known as “The Cathedral in the Moor”. With specular moorland and tors arising on all sides, with two lovely pubs, café and shops as well riding stables nearby, making it the perfect location for walkers, mountain bikers, riders, bird watchers or those that love dramatic landscapes.

Dartmoor National Park has the greatest number of archaeological remains in Europe and there are Neolithic tombs, mystical stone circles and abandoned medieval farmsteads and villages to explore. The South West Coast Path and the local beaches of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are around a 40-minute drive away. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams, such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach, also offer a great alternative for a fun day out.
