Superb panoramic views of the estuary and direct access to the foreshore make Port View a perfect place for your holiday. Early birds can enjoy breakfast in the courtyard style garden overlooking the beach. At low tide you can watch oystercatchers and little egrets feeding on shellfish just offshore, and at high tide when the weather is warm enough, you can swim below the garden wall. Port View is only a few minutes’ walk from the village shops and from the village green, the hub of many activities through the summer. A pleasant walk along the sea wall brings you to the sandy beach. Here you will find the historic ferry, which crosses the river to Teignmouth every fifteen minutes in high season (when tidal conditions permit) where there is a wide range of water sports available.

Music lovers will appreciate the many live music venues clustered around the harbour.
Shaldon offers a fine variety of restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy a leisurely meal or a drink in the sun. For children there is also a delightful small animal zoo, and a fascinating tunnel through the cliffs to a secluded sandy beach facing the open sea. Venturing further afield from Shaldon opens a world of exploration in South Devon. Take a short drive to the picturesque Dartmoor National Park, where you can hike across rugged tors and lush valleys, visit charming villages, or simply soak in the stunning natural landscapes.

Head to the nearby towns of Teignmouth and Exeter for diverse cultural experiences, whether it’s strolling along the seafront promenade, exploring historic cathedrals, or indulging in shopping and dining. For coastal delights, explore the English Riviera in Paignton and Torquay, where family-friendly attractions and water sports await. And don’t forget to visit charming fishing villages like Brixham and embrace the rich maritime heritage that the South Devon coast has to offer.
