Extra Amenities
Located in the heart of the wonderful Blackmore vale countryside, Bridles Farm Holiday Cottages are two Grade II listed, single-storey converted barns (refs 29954 and 29955) situated on a working sheep and beef farm. Ideally placed in an AONB mid-way between Dorchester to the south, the historic county town of Dorset and Sherborne to the north, with its beautiful abbey and castles, these charming cottages each offer good family holiday accommodation for four. Both have their own decked area, equipped with barbecues and outdoor furniture and the farm’s garden also has a pond with adjacent patio which is an idyllic place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine whilst looking out over the fields, spring being a particularly lovely time to watch the lambs playing.
There are several bridleways and footpaths on the doorstep and the village inn is only a short walk where you can wine and dine or sit out in the beer garden and enjoy the sunshine. Places of interest locally include the famous Cerne Abbas giant carved into the hillside, the Fleet Air Arm Museum with its fascinating array of aircraft at Yeovilton, the Haynes Motor Museum for those with an interest in classic cars and Monkey World in Wareham.
Guests can explore Weymouth, a family friendly sandy beach and home of the 2012 Olympic sailing, Portland and on to West Bay, Bridport and Lyme Regis, taking in the spectacular famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast and Chesil Beach. Venture into Somerset to Clark’s Factory Village at Street, Glastonbury Tor, Longleat House and Safari Park and much more – there is much to enjoy. Shaftesbury and Salisbury are also well worth a trip. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 275 yards.
