Like most of the towns in the area, Torquay is situatedright on the coast, and the main town is just a few minutes away from the nearest beach - Torre Abbey Sands.

There are eight other beaches around Torquay, all with unique views across the bay. The town itself is bursting with history, being the birthplace of the famous murder mystery writer Agatha Christie. It also has beautiful ancient caves containing a variety of interesting fossils, World War II slipways in the harbour and Torre Abbey, which was built in 1166 and is the largest surviving medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. And of course, who can forget the role Torquay played in the famous comedy Fawlty Towers.
