Meadow Barn is a rural retreat located in the peaceful Dorset hamlet of East Burton, positioned along a quiet no-through lane with direct access to scenic walks. This single-storey barn conversion is ideal for couples, families or friends who want to enjoy the beautiful surrounding area of Dorset. The UNESCO Jurassic Coastline is less than five miles away, with highlights such as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. The Jurassic Coastline is home to over 300 coastal walks, offering some breath taking views over Dorset’s 200 million year old shoreline. Meadow Barn is located in the heart of Thomas Hardy country, between Swanage and Weymouth, so it’s easy to imagine life here as it was portrayed by Thomas Hardy in his fictional books, and his birthplace is also close by.
The nearby village of Wool has its own village store, a bakery and a butchers shop, and there is excellent fishing in the area in the River Frome as well as various golf courses, bridleways, cycling and riding routes. Wool train station is within walking distance with links to Dorchester and Weymouth heading west, or Wareham, Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch heading east. The county town of Dorchester is home to Roman relics, Brewery Square and the pioneering architectural royal development of Poundbury. Weymouth’s award-winning golden sandy beach and historic waterfront harbour are certainly worth a visit.
Head over to the Isle of Portland, home to the world famous National Sailing Academy, and host to the 2012 Olympic Games sailing and paralympic sailing events. Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World are on the doorstep of Meadow Barn which are highlights within the local area, as are Corfe Castle, Swanage Bay, the steam railway and Arne RSPB Natural Reserve. The Isle of Purbeck is renowned for its spectacular scenery including Poole harbour - the larges natural harbour in Europe. This makes Meadow Barn an ideal spot within the heart of the Dorset countryside. Beach 5½ miles. Shop 800 yards, pub and restaurant ¼ mil
