Located along a quiet no-through lane with direct access to scenic walks, this superb detached barn conversion offers wonderful far reaching views over the local countryside and if you need to know anything about the area, the owner lives at the property. It is situated within the middle of Thomas Hardy country, between Swanage and Weymouth and only 5 miles from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The nearby village of Wool has its own village store, a bakery and a butcher’s shop, and there is excellent fishing in the area in the River Frome as well as various golf courses, bridleways, cycle and riding routes.
Tastefully and stylishly furnished, this rural barn is an ideal retreat for enjoying this delightful area. As its name suggests, Swallows’ Nest is home to a family of swallows and guests can wake up to their delightful birdsong and playful interaction. Outside there are two patio areas with garden furniture, one at the front and one at the rear of the property, to take advantage of the morning sunrise or evening sun.
There is also a covered area with table tennis for guests to enjoy. Inside, the open plan living area has high vaulted ceilings, adding to the natural light from the Velux windows and patio doors, and the stylish design in a black and white theme adds to the spacious ambiance. There is a wood burner as well as a heater/air conditioning unit. Eco friendly, the water for the tank is collected from natural rainwater, and solar power provides additional warmth. Both attractively presented bedrooms have TVs and en-suite facilities for added comfort, and many extras have been provided such as toiletries, binoculars, games, books and toys.
The Isle of Purbeck is renowned for its spectacular scenery including Poole Harbour – the largest natural harbour in Europe.
The area also features England’s first World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast, with its unique geology and fossils dating back millions of years. A short drive takes you to Lulworth Cove with its pebble beach and perhaps take a walk up and over the hill to famous Durdle Door. The whole of this area has lovely scenery and coastal walks. There are numerous attractions, ranging from the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Weymouth Sea Life Park and Butterfly Farm and Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens. The seaside town of Swanage with its golden sandy beach and Durlston Country Park and Steam Railway are well worth a visit. The historic market towns of Dorchester and Wareham are nearby, as well as the pretty National Trust’s Corfe Castle, Blue Pool, Brownsea Island and Arne RSPB Nature Reserve. Beach 5 miles. Shop ¾ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
