Glastonbury Tor and Abbey and Cheddar Gorge should also be on your list to visit. The surrounding countryside is known for its views so walkers and cyclist will enjoy all that the Mendip Hills, which are an area of outstanding natural beauty, have to offer. Ornothologists will enjoy the Somerset Levels which is well known for its National Nature Reserves.
Slightly far afield but yet still under an hour’s drive are the Georgian city of Bath and Bristol which are well worth visiting. The beautiful long beaches at Weston-super-Mare are close by as is Longleat safari park which is a good day trip. Should you want to stay closer to home you can easily arrange golf, shooting and fishing within a few miles of Wilf’s Cottage. Short breaks are available at this property but you may find that you want to stay for longer!
This renovated 20th Century brickmaking works has made into a perfect retreat for a couple. The owners have incorporated under floor heating throughout so the property is warm whatever the weather.
There is a small lawned area by the entrance to the property where you will find some garden furniture and a barbecue so that you can enjoy those wonderful summer evenings. Parking is available just next to the cottage.
As you enter the cottage, you walk into the open plan living/dining room with its open fire, comfortable sofa and TV with DVD and a CD/Radio. There are French doors that open on to a terrace. The country style galley kitchen area has been well equipped and has an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and automatic washing machine/drier. The bathroom has been beautifully done with tongue and groove wooden panelling and bath with an over bath shower. Upstairs is a galleried style bedroom area with a comfortable double bed, sloping ceiling and velux window so it is bright and airy. Linen, duvet and towels are provided by the owners.

Initial fuel for the fire is included, thereafter available at cost. Changeover day is a Friday with arrival time after 4pm and departure before 10am.
From M5, exit at J22. Take the 3rd exit on roundabout – A38 to Bristol Airport/Weston-super-Mare. Take 1st turning right at the Fox and Goose Pub and stay on this road. At crossroads, turn left. You are now in Mark on the B3139 which will take you to Wedmore passing through Blackford. Once in Wedmore carry on past the church on your left. At the bottom of the hill turn right. At the T junction, turn left on to the B3139 to Wells. Go past the New Inn on your right. The road goes up a small hill. Ignore the first road on the left. On the brow of the hill on the left opposite a row of cottages is a cream house, Combe Lane is immediately on the left after this house. It is a farm track. Drive down the hill passing a house on the corner and you come to a gate. This is Brickyard Farm. Turn right as you come in. Wilf’s Barn is on the left with parking on the gravel under the sign.
Please note that access is via a farm track that is accessible for all but the lowest of sports cars.
What do you need - city pied-a-terre or coastal holiday cottage? South West England is many peoples first choice. There is plenty of last minute dog friendly short breaks in South Dorset, West Cornwall or Devon - some have golf courses close by.
